A Spring Morning...

After the dark hues of my previous post
I thought it would be nice to get back to happy Spring colours!

Dearest Dorthe of the beautiful and inspiring blog

Den Lille Lade

told me she received my giveaway package.

I know she loves birds,
so I added these beautiful blue birds to the gift wrappings.

I made her a card in the same blues and creams.

The little blue tatted flower on the card I made and then painted.

Tatting is something I wanted to learn for some time but I didn't know how to and didn't have the supplies. But I do now!

The blue flowers below are tatted too.

Tatting - also known as Frivolité - is an old hand craft. Done with shuttles or special needles. I'm a newbie in this and I still have to learn a lot.

Below is a cross I tatted. Full of little and bigger errors!
But we learn from our mistakes, don't we?

My man and I are still very busy with the attic.
It will become our work room.

The rebuilding part is almost finished.
My man carries loads and loads of stuff upstairs.

Upon seeing my doubts of whether this all is so important that it indeed must stay,
he reminds me kindly of piles of craft supplies and fabrics.

Ah yes, but that is very important stuff dear!
Very very important indeed!

After which he smiles at me
and goes on with his busy-ness.

I guess that didn't work.

Here's one of the beautiful bird images I used.
Please feel free to use it in your own work.

The other birds come from the Graphics Fairy and you can find these and others

Wishing you a beautiful day full of joy!

xx Wen

    Fijn weekend.

  7. What gorgeous bird treasures you created!! Dorthe is a lucky gal to have won these.
I just love the blue tatted designs you made. You've peaked my interest in tatting! :)

  8. Wendy I did see Dorthe's post showing your gifts and they are such BLUEtiful delights. How clever of you to tackle tatting and make such lovely pieces. I have yet to learn even though I have tried. Your packaging and presentation is stunning. Sharing Joy and Peace...

  9. I love seeing the blues at this cold time of the year., and your tatting is lovely. Several months ago I purchased the materials to tat with, along with an instruction book, but can't seem to find the time to try it. Thanks for the encouragement! Sue

  10. Your whole post looks like spring. I love your tatting, and the exquisite card you made. The wrapping on the gifts is very beautiful, too.

  11. Dearest Wendy

I know Dorthe will adore your "blue bird themed cards" she is such a bird lover as we all know!
I'm so impressed with your tatting!
Your mother and great grandmama will be smiling - creativity runs in your family.
I'm dyslexic when it comes to crochet, I can manage the first round and then confusion sets in - my attempts are tragic. I wish I had sat beside my mother and learnt before she died.... one of my regrets.

Many thank yous for adding my giveaway to your side bar! You're a sweetie - merci!

    love and hugs

  12. Hi Wendy....oh your work is beautiful, the soft blues and cream delightful and I'm so pleased you're having a go at tatting...I did learn many years ago with a shuttle and wondered if I'd ever make anything usable...but you have prompted me that I should unearth my bits and have another go now I have much more time. I love that the old handcrafts are having a bit of a revival, great to the internet to help. Robyn

  13. The gifts you created for Dorthe are gorgeous, Wendy.I'm sure she must have been thrilled. Thanks for the sweet bird. Have a lovely Sunday.

  14. geweldige spulletjes. Mooi met al dat blauw. I'm really inspired.

  15. I know Dear Dorthe will love what you have created. I tried my hand at tatting once and enjoyed it...you have inspired me to get the tatting needle out again. Love that cross!!!! If it has mistakes it does not matter as it is a beauty!

Thank you so much for leaving me a sweet message, I love reading your comments. Hugs and happy day to you! xx Wen
