Trying some new things

Hello hello, summer holiday is almost over and we're back to normal. How has your summer been? Just before we went on a few weeks trip I had sent out a little package to dear Dorthe. I had been trying new things, expanding my horizon. Like macrame, knitting, and crocheting in thread size mini.

Like the tiny crochet flower above (see the difference with the white flower in a thread size that is commonly used in our days), with an old crochet hook in size mini. My goodness, that's hard! I'm in awe of the ladies of old that made tons of amazingly beautiful projects with hooks like this one...

I finished a fabric and lace booklet that I had been working on some time ago. It has little pockets to hold sweet messages and a tiny notebook.

On pinterest I had found a tutorial by Lia Griffith for macrame, something I had been wanting to try my hands on for a while now. The result is below. It's a tiny macrame, which can be used as a necklace hanger for example, like Lia does in her tutorial.

Also, I tried knitting, with some cotton yarn I had for crocheting. And from my first little test swatch I made a tiny pocket message booklet with an embroidered uplifting message on the inside. This little message can be carried with you in your pocket, or even used as a wrist cuff. The knitting feels so soft, so cuddly. I added a crocheted heart and an embroidered button on the outside.

You are loved. A good reminder I think. It's something we tend to forget, isn't it?

Well, this is it for today, dear friends.

Wishing you a wonderful new week ahead.

xx Wen

Little presents - Simply Neutrals #25

Little presents by AppleApricot

Hello dear friends, here's another Simply Neutrals party!
And a nice number too: 25.

This week I'm sharing some of the little gifts I added to the swap for Odetta.
For this, I made a little gift bag with an image I received some time ago from Marie of Lost Bird Studio. You can find her wonderful giveaway (which I won back in 2013, lucky me!) HERE.

I will show a little more goodies of the swap another time.

FEATURES OF LAST PARTY

First of all, I had been posting on my blog a couple of times after our last party and noticed that it might have influenced the number of link ups to last party. Please know that you can ALWAYS link up to the most recent party (except for a few hours before the new party starts), so you can hardly ever be too late to join. Just click on Simply Neutrals in the page section above and you'll see the most recent party on the top.

Second, my week has been a crazy one, so please forgive me if I haven't visited or replied. I will do my best to do this asap.

Here are the features:

Speaking of Marie... She painted a most beautiful vintage suitcase in a beautiful white and made a lovely vignette with it. You can find more photos on her blog Lost Bird Studio HERE.

Then there was this gorgeous card by Suzy of Suziqu's Threadworks:

I was happy to see her back on her blog and creating again after she and her husband moved.

And speaking of houses... I saw this wonderful street art, captured by Jutta of My Digital Wonderland.

I love street art when done respectfully. Especially if it brightens up an otherwise gloomy place.

Gifts, a freebie, and a little hello from the sickbed

Some of the things I sent to my sweet blog friend Ira some while ago.
Along with the fabric collage,
I showed you earlier.

A little vellum gift bag (first photo), stuffed with goodies.

A little notebook for things to remember
or happy creative ideas may be.

A tiny gift tag to adorn the gift wrapping.

A small gift box filled with more goodies.

The goodies I already showed you in an earlier post.
Along with the vellum bag this time.

By the way, I edited these photos in picmonkey,
using "cinema" (without the box)
and "dark edges".
Also added some brightness.
A very fun online free editing program!

Of course I can't help but share one of the photos I used.
I love this photo with the lady on the street.
Not edited by me this time.

Free for you to use in your personal creations.

Well, this is it for today.
Back to bed, because I still have a most nasty flu.
Thank you so much for your well wishes!

I will visit you all as soon as I'm fully recovered!

Dreams of bygone eras

The local thrift store was whispering to me

"Come dear, come...
I have a dream find for you..."

I hushed the still small voice the day before.

But this day I knew it was now or never.
So I obeyed and went.

Oh my oh my, what a magnificent find...

An antique typewriter!!

I'd wished for it for long
but never dared dream one would actually find its way to me!

What stories, letters, or documents have been typed on it...
I would love to know.

To have a sneaky peek in its past.

I dream of bygone eras.

I've always had a passion for the old and vintage.

It started with the stored treasures and stories of old by my grandma.

The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt...
A vintage novel in pictures by Caroline Preston.

This book plus trailer video (below)
is how my adventure in arts and crafts took off.

Combined with my love for old stuff.

My new antique typewriter awakens in me a renewed passion
for the vintage arts and crafts.

It inspires me to go on along this winding road
with exciting new adventures ahead.

Now this altered matchbox / little shadow box
was made after seeing the inspiring Christmas tutorials by

She's having a most wonderful

vintage Christmas event.

Every day a new tutorial, a week long.

A petit keepsake box
(recycled empty matchbox)

with an adorable shadow box inside...

I used some silver and sparkling.

And some grey and greige goodies love.

Linking my silver greige love to Grey Dey Thursdey :)
