Hello sweet friends,
Gosh, it's time again for another Simply Neutrals. Time flies... So...
Hello hello and a warm welcome to Simply Neutrals for July 2018!
Today I'm sharing some photos I took in the beautiful mountains of Switzerland.
This summer we will be spending some time in the mountains again, so it might take some time for me to be able to visit your blogs. But the SNT party will go on, so please join!
And dear Jo had a great idea: from now on the link up will last the whole month in stead of for one or two weeks only. So you will have the whole month of July to join the party of July. And if you feel like joining multiple times, please feel free to do so!

Back to my photos: top left of this second photo collage is a dairy farmer who is cleaning the huge pot in which he makes Alpine cheese the traditional way. Next to him is the oven.
The cheese gets its unique taste from the alpine herbs that the cows eat during the summer months, when they spend their time on the higher grounds in the mountains. I always love hearing the sound of the bells they carry. It's so typical for the Alpines. Can't wait to be going there again this summer!

FEATURE OF LAST MONTH
I don't think it will come as a surprise that the feature this week is a gorgeous fabric art journal created by dear Suzy of suziqusthreadworks. My goodness, just stunning! And what I really love is that it is a journal that has so many elements that are so close to Suzy's heart: the theme of friendship, the warm neutral tones, the pre-Raphaelite paintings, fabrics and papers that Suzy (eco-)dyed and printed by hand herself, gorgeously rich fabrics and laces, embroidery and a vintage bohemian style. What's not to love?
Please check her blog post HERE to see more of this gorgeous journal!
Dear Suzy, here is your well deserved feature blog button if you'd like to use it:
On to this month's party!
SIMPLY NEUTRALS #46
To join the party, please keep the following things in mind:
1) Please link only to the blogpost that contains the photo(s) you want to share, and not to your blog's homepage.
2) Kindly link back to AppleApricot by putting a link to my blog in your blogpost.
Of course you're most welcome to use the blog button of Simply Neutrals Tuesday as well
(which can be found in the sidebar of my blog)
3) Link ups to both new and older blog posts are welcome.
4) You can link up from your blog, but if you do not have a blog but would love to link up from your instagram or other social media account, that's perfectly fine too.
Beware though, that may be not everyone can come visit and/or leave you a comment there.
5) Please take time to visit some of the other link ups and send them some love.
Time for the link up!
xx Wen

Thank you dear Jackie! The cheese had a peculiar taste, very strong. To be honest, I had some troubles to really appreciate and enjoy it... I prefer mild tasting cheeses :) Wishing you a happy summer, hugs xx
Deletemmmm - I can only begin to imagine the taste of that cheese! And the sound of the cow bells too. What an amazing area to live in!
ReplyDeleteThe area truly is amazing, I wish I could call it home :) Hugs and happy summer wishes, xx
DeleteHello Wen, What stunning views you've taken. It reminds me of reading Heidi by Johanna Spyri. I bet the traditionally made cheese tastes great. I understand why you would want to return - but I bet there was a lot of steep walking!
ReplyDeleteSuzy's Friendship journal was amazing, as usual. What a talent and inspiration she is!
Wishing you happy travels,
Love and hugs from Jesse XX
Hello sweetie, ah yes, Heidi :) I read the book, it's a wonderful read. And oh dear yes, were those hikes steep and exhausting! But the area is so so gorgeous that you really don't mind. Breathtaking in more than one sense, lol :) Big hugs and happy winter to you! xx
DeleteHi Wen,
ReplyDeleteJust visiting your beautiful blog and love your photos. It's nice that you are sharing these and so interesting about the "old ways" of making cheese. I haven't done much creating but trying to get inspired again. My nephew passed away of brain cancer and it has been so difficult for our family. This is the second son my sister has lost. I spent quite a bit of time with him and the family these last couple of months. Now he is at peace and we are trying to move forward. I thought I would visit your blog because you have so many wonderful creations from everyone. Anyway just wanted to say hi and see how you are doing. Hopefully I can join Simply Neutrals very soon. Love and God bless! Diane
Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry for your loss! That must be so hard for you and your family, especially your sister. Take care sweetie, wishing you all the best and sending you love and hugs. And thank you for visiting, I hope it was of any help. Big hugs, xx
DeleteGreat photos, have nice holidays in the mountains (what a contrast to your homeland!).
ReplyDeleteThank you Mascha :) Yes it truly is different from my home country! Here it is flat as flat can be :) Hugs and happy summer to you! xx
DeleteWow, what beautiful photos of the mountains, it looks such a peaceful and idyllic place to visit 😁. Sending many congratulations to Susy, the fabric journal is just amazing isn't it! Happy travels dear Wen and wishing you a Happy July! J 😊 x
ReplyDeletep.s. thanks for the mention and I'm so pleased we can enter throughout the month, I'll be sure to join in soon 😁. J x

DeleteHello Dear Wen as I write this you are probably enjoying yourselves up in the Alpine mountains once again. What lovely photos you shared with us while you were last there. I love the sound of those beautiful cow bells too!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing my Friendship book. I so loved creating this one using all the elements I simply love to create with.
I am late but we have been moving my studio to a bigger space so been a bit busy but hope to share some new images very soon.
Sending much love,
Suzy

ReplyDeleteJust visited your beautiful site....love everyone's work on Simply Nuetrals. Love Suzi's work. Love the beautiful collage too. I have not done any creating since before June. I lost my nephew to brain cancer in June and find it difficult to get going again. This was my sister's second son she lost. We are a close family so we are there for each other. Anyway, just wanted to say hi. I hope all is well with you. I love your photos of Switzerland. Hopefully I can join Simply Nuetrals again soon. Take care. Hugs and love, Diane
