Hello dears, welcome to Simply Neutrals!
Today I have two posts in one here on AppleApricot due to another party that's going on today at City Crafter challenge blog (CCCB). It's City Crafter's birthday!
Yay, happy birthday CCCB!!!
In the past I was a design team member for CCCB. Because City Crafter has its 8th birthday this month of April, Kirsty asked the past team members to make a card that the present design team will then CASE (or kind of remake in their own styles).
This week is my turn. And this is my card.
Thank you Kirsty, so good to join the CCCB-team again for this week!
I used wallpaper samples, pieces of an antique French postcard that I scanned, a wildflower book page, a piece of vellum that I had printed a flower print on, two paper flowers, one little rhinestone, a text stamp, three butterflies from the internet, some machine-stitching, and a bit of distress ink.
Come join us at City Crafter Challenge Blog this week and CASE my card!
Back to Simply Neutrals linky party now...

FEATURE OF LAST WEEK
This week I chose (again) for photos by dear Jutta which she shared on her blog My Digital Wonderland. Because I sooooo much love flocks of Starlings, their chatter when they gather for the night, and the beautiful patterns they make in the sky!
And I also chose these photos by Jutta because I really wished to share with you an amazing video of a giant flock of Starlings making these patterns. It is one of my all time favourites to watch. All credits go to the girls of Islands and Rivers who created this video!

Dear Jutta, here is your feature blog button if you like:
On to this week's party!
SIMPLY NEUTRALS #42
To join the party, please keep the following things in mind:
1) Please link only to the blogpost that contains the photo(s) you want to share, and not to your blog's homepage.
2) Kindly link back to AppleApricot by putting a link to my blog in your blogpost.
Of course you're most welcome to use the blog button of Simply Neutrals Tuesday as well
(which can be found in the sidebar of my blog)
3) Link ups to both new and older blog posts are welcome.
Of course it would be nice if you link up to a new or recent blog post, but if there is something from the archives you'd really want to link up here, then please feel welcome to do so.
4) You can link up from your blog, but if you do not have a blog but would love to link up from your instagram or other social media account, that's perfectly fine too.
Beware though, that may be not everyone can come visit and/or leave you a comment there.
5) Please take time to visit some of the other link ups and send them some love.
The most recently added link ups will show in the list first.
Time for the link up!
xx Wen

Thank you for being our special guest and help us celebrate CCCB's 8th birthday, it was fun working with you, it was fun met up with you in Amsterdam, it was fun calling you my friend! Thank you so much for everything!
ReplyDeleteLove your beautiful creation, it brought back old memories where I used to make shabby vintage cards with layers, I did give it another try CASing your card, thanks for the inspiration!!!!
Your postcard has a beautiful vintage nature collage look that was a joy to CASE. Thanks for returning to CCCB for our birthday.
ReplyDeleteDear Wen,
ReplyDeleteWe have both been creating cards this week - how sweet is that! And yours is just so naturally beautifully collaged with those butterflies on the wallpaper back ground with such sweet details of your copied postcard, stamps and flowers. The City Crafters will be thrilled to receive this.
Thanks for sharing the wonderful Murmuration video inspired by Jutta's amazing photographs. I have never seen this here - that was so amazing! Just so many starlings and the patterns and how they orchestrate the whole flight! WOW!
Sending hugs and love and many thanks for your efforts each week here sweet friend!

Hi Wen, I LOVE your touches of lime green in the moss and the butterflies - what a gorgeous presentation of this card with the natural objects around it. So pretty, so Spring! The wallpaper samples look terrific as textures in the background. That starling video is awesome; those girls must have been blown away to witness and record it. Jutta's pictures were very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonder-filled week,
Hugs from Jesse XX
that is such a pretty card! And thank you for sharing Jutta's photos and videos. A pleasure to see again.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing card with so much lovely detail Wen! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHappy SNT #42!
Thank you for hosting this fabulous challenge each week!
Hugs, Susi
Hi Wen, I really love your natural card this week! I like the contrasts of the clean white emboss and the vintage & neutral colors. Always thoughtful, beautiful work you do. And Jutta's photo's are very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing that awesome video! I've never seen anything so dramatic like that from birds! Heavenly orchestrated~
So many of us with birds on our mid these early Spring days <3 Hugs to you, karen o
I will enjoy exploring all the blogs who have participated this week!
That is neat you were able to join in on the celebration and make such a beautiful butterfly card, the texture in the wall paper is so lovely and like that piece of vellum stitched on also!
ReplyDeleteWe have many starlings that came to visit the end of winter and haven't left, they love the suet I put out for the birds. That video was amazing, thankfully we don't have that many that visit us here.
What a beautiful card! I love the different textures and nature elements that you used.
ReplyDeleteSo amazing how the starlings move like it. It's mesmerizing.
I love watching flocks of starlings in flight - wonder who the 'head bird' is that chooses in what direction they will fly. Don't like them so much at the bird feeder though - they will empty it in a day and they're LOUD when they're right outside the window.
ReplyDeleteWow, what an amazing card! I love how you created the background with the papers and sewing and using the beautiful lacy wallpaper is perfect, thanks for the inspiration 😀. You created such beauty with the butterflies and details you added too! Wishing you a Happy Friday and wonderful weekend dear Wen! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteHello dearest Wen,- your card is stunning, -I so love the green details, and all the beauty of the collaged papers, and the copied old postcard- giving a lovely vintage feel to it !!
ReplyDeleteAlso the way you have presented it with nature items is fantastic,- you are surely, a true artist Wen.
The video of the Startlings is just gorgeous, such very amazing nature, dear friend.
Warm hug from Dorthe, xxx
