Time for another challenge... for week #105 "Just a hint of pink" at City Crafter Challenge Blog I made this gothic arch collage.
I didn't plan on joining any challenge or swap since I'm busy hand stitching my first fabric collage, which is sooooo time consuming but so nice to do! But then I saw what the challenge at CCCB was about...
Linda asked us to "make a project using Black, White or Grey, with a hint of pink. The color of
your project could be all black, all white or all grey, or you could use 2 or 3
of these colors together, but don't forget the hint of pink!"
I just HAD to join and used all of the mentioned colours.
I don't know why, but somehow this challenge made me think of gothic arches.
So I'm also adding this to the challenge at Gothic Arches challenge blog. Their theme is Signs of Spring. I used delicate white flowers as the first sign of spring in the midst of the dark, grey and death of winter.
Here's what I did...
First I altered a photo of a forest and made it a pink grey. This I used as my background. Not that you can see much of the forest after I added more layers to my collage, but oh well... I distressed the edges of the arch. Then I added a black lace fabric and teared some paper with writings on it from Kruidvat.
Next I coloured a black and white picture of a beautiful vintage lady in Photoshop and then...
... for some reason I felt the urge to burn the edges! :)
Did you do that at school? I did. I loved burning paper. Don't ask me why.
After the burning I distressed the burned edges with black ink to get rid of the brown burning marks (as it is a black/grey/white challenge brown has to go, bye bye!).
Next I added some white lace flowers and some ... ???... pink embellishment stuff. Sorry, English is not my native language :) Two curly thingies from Kruidvat which I distressed silver and black (silver counts as grey, right?) and some beads on a thread to make it a hanging arch.
PRESENTS RECEIVED
Further more, I'd like to show you the presents I got from Ros of City Crafter. Just look how beautiful she's wrapped the gift:
I love the cute little tag she's made! And the music sheet... I love playing the piano, so I tried to play what was on the sheet but it's way too difficult for me :)
And here's what was in this lovely package:
Don't you just love those gorgeous stamps? And the die-cuts are so lovely too. Thank you, Ros, for this beautiful gift!
And now for a by-the-way... I'll be having my own pinterest account very soon. Finally :) Rumour has it that it's quite addictive. Hmmm.
But for now: cheerio and happy weekend!
xx Wen

ReplyDeletePrachtig!!!!
That's a stunning arch, what a beautiful colour combination.

Wat mooi Wendy. Enne dat papier branden jaha leuk ben er alleen iets te perfectionistisch voor nu. Want ja het brandt natuurlijk nooit helemaal zoals ik dat wil. Maar het blijft een super gaaf effect geven.
