What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday
A wonderful weekly event, hosted by Julia Dunnit of Stamping Ground.
A wonderful weekly event, hosted by Julia Dunnit of Stamping Ground.
My workdesk looked quite tidy last time I joined WOYWW.
At the moment, there's hardly any room left for crafting.
Pathways of buttons and of threads and pins...
Besides some finished and unfinished projects piled up on my desk, I'm working on some handmade book ideas. But I'm kind of stuck.

Yesterday, when looking out of my window, I noticed this horrifying scene...
A huge fire!!
In a nearby industrial area several businesses have gone to ashes. A nightmare for every business owner. There was nobody severely wounded, thank goodness. But the livelihood of so many people is destroyed. Especially since we're in the middle of an economic crisis here in The Netherlands and it will be hard for these people to find new jobs.

GIVEAWAY
Okay, I'm sorry but right now I'm heading into a completely inappropriate subject, if you consider what I just wrote above...
I'm having a tiny giveaway.
Just a tiny one.
Because I was so stupid as to buy a lovely magazine twice.
Not on purpose of course.
So, here it is:
It is written in Dutch though, so either you have to (learn how to) speak Dutch, or you won't mind the language if you would like to win this magazine.
If you would like to win this one, just tell me in the comments below that you do and leave me your email address.
Hope you liked this little tour through my piles. Happy WOYWW to you! And a big warm welcome to new followers and friends of AppleApricot!
Bye bye for now!
xx Wen

nasty fire close by, hope you didn't get to much of the smoke. a good day to stay in.
ReplyDeleteYou've taken granny on quite a roller coaster ride today, my dear! Your photography is simply stunning. Are you schooled in it or is it a hobby? You have such a natural eye for it. Your photos look like they belong in magazines, seriously. If you had a drawing for a print of one of your photos, you'd have no end of requests to join in!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for the businesses destroyed by the fire and all those livelihoods lost. My heart goes out to them and to the town.
Take care! Darnell #19

Yeah but Wendy, your desk is still neat...and it really looks as it's waiting for you, and it looks really co-ordinated too. Lovely. The fire was awful, they really are frightening and so devastating.
ReplyDeletePlease don't include me for the give-away..I can't speak Dutch, as you probably gathered!
I have to be honest and tell you that your work space looks beautiful. If you could see mine right now, you would understand why I thing yours is nicely organized. I am so sorry to hear about the fires in your area, but am very happy to hear that your home was not affected by it. It appears to have been quite close to you. God be with you and your family and may you be blessed.

Well Wendy you just totally inspired me with all the lovely fabric and lace covering your desk!! So sad that any business is destroyed and peoples jobs lost! Hope they can recover and rebuild!
ReplyDeleteOh your desk looks like someone is really busy creating there! I love that image of your pincushion! WOW!
ReplyDeleteOh so sad to experience fire like that - I've been on the edge of a huge bushfire
and it was absolutely so scarey!
Please count me in dear Wendy for the lovely book even though it is in Dutch I can still be inspired by the photos!
Finally catching up after being away on a holiday for a week!
Sending big hugs,
Suzy
love seeing your work desk and that shot of the laces and buttons is very pretty . . . makes me wonder what beautiful things you may be coming up with next.
ReplyDeletethe photo of the smoke from the fire is an extraordinary one. so very dramatic. it captures the tragedy of this event very well. i am sorry to hear of the devastation and hope that there were no serious injuries. of course it must be very hard to have something like this happen when times are already so hard.
hugs,
