Shabby Tag

"LOVING she is, and tractable, though wild;
And Innocence hath privilege in her

To dignify arch looks and laughing eyes; (...)

And, as a faggot sparkles on the hearth,

Not less if unattended and alone
Than when both young and old sit gathered round
And take delight in its activity;

Even so this happy Creature of herself (...)

Unthought-of, unexpected, as the stir
Of the soft breeze ruffling the meadow flowers (...)."

Parts of the poem
"Characteristics of a Child Three Year Old"

by William Wordsworth

My project for week #152 at City Crafter guest design spot.

Kirsty hosts the wonderful challenge this week
"make a tag, include washi tape."

Now where's my washi tape here?
There's a little bit bordering the lovely vintage photo.
But there's lots of it on the background of the tag.

Here's a tiny tutorial like thingie of what I did:

DIY

1) Glue (old) bookpaper on the tag.

2) Distress with ink (a brown colour).
3) Tear pieces of (dictionary-) washi tape and stick them randomly on the tag (don't cover all the bookpaper though).
4) Apply a little bit of gesso with your fingertips, randomly (again, don't cover it all).
5) Spray some ink (I used a greenish/turquoise mixture of ecoline), again randomly.

And there you have it.
The bookpaper soaks in the (ecoline) ink
while the washi tape resists it,
 giving a gorgeous texture to your background.

Happy crafting,

xx Wen

    This is delightful Wendy. That sweet image and as you say, yummy laces.
    I agree, vintage book pages and tape are a perfect marriage for backgrounds.
